Redefining the Dream

Just for a moment, go back in your mind ten years.  It’s summer of 2000. What was life like? What were you doing? What was important to you at the time? What was your dream?

Breathe yourself back into this moment.

The dream then-is it the dream today? I don’t have to be clairvoyant to bet you probably not. That is because most of our dreams, conceived in the quagmire of our human experience are not Soul dreams; they are relative dreams with an expiration date proportional to our experience of the time.

Egos will have you notice the dream isn’t everything you thought it’d be. Egos never want to admit the Truth of Relative. Ego’s want good or bad, it happened or it didn’t. It will settle for the muddle of ‘I can’t remember” the dream, ten years was so long ago.

Relative, as a Spiritual Principle involves a perspective outside of the mini me. Mini me is the cobbled together me from your conditioning and indoctrination of your culture and times. Mini me is your past, your memories, the story you tell about the whole shebang of your past-but it isn’t You. The stuff mini me knows is relative. There is nothing absolute or fixed about it. This is how you have a family growing up together in the same house, with the same conditioning and indoctrination, and yet each person has completely different experiences.

Much of what we call dreams are not really dreams. They are desires, wishes, perhaps even obligations we believe we must full-fill that we label as a dream. What I have observed with folks who are living Sustainable, Peaceful, Joyful lives, is the dream emerged from the willingness to walk the path, not from what was planned.

Look to your own experience. The things that work for you, the ones that you are happy with—did you plan those ten years ago? Ten Years ago, what you thought would make you happy-is it happy today?

Looking at my experience, I could see in my life how plans I have had, have all led to something unplanned. The Divine flow of the Universe is always at work and what has slowed or sped the plans along is my thinking I know what the dream looks like and trying to “master-mind” the how.

I caught myself reminiscing one day about a special time in my childrens life-a tender time when they were very young. That was part of a dream. I certainly had moments I was aware I was living the dream-but 25 years ago they were sporadic. Today, I can look at my life and despite the one or two things I would tinker with to suit me better-the Soul dream I realize has found me. Like the flourishing expanding lushness of a garden, it has been in me and around me all along. The blooms changes, with the seasons and that makes the living the dream all the sweeter.

I invite you to free yourself from the constraints of a relative dream. Welcome the Universe like an old and trusted friend to flow deeply into your life by recognizing the Soul dream finds you, as you are present to life, stepping into life each minute.
