Today, being Sunday or a “church” day for many folks I thought I would share some thoughts on the God we create in our lives. The way in which we interact with Divine Energy is the primary foundation for life. Weather we consciously believe in the Energy is not relevant. There is no such thing as a neutral thought. We either believe in a kind loving universe or we do not.
I was passed a newsletter written by the popular minister Rick Warren. I recognized when I read it, a fundamental difference between the re-birth of the first century church and the teachings of Jesus, (sometimes called ‘new thought’) and what man has created over the centuries: “Christian doctrine”
In the newsletter Warren said:
“Have you ever been in a no win situation? Perhaps you’re in a ‘no win situation’ right now. Who do you think is behind that? God is! God backs you into a corner. Why? Because God often allows crisis in our lives in order to get our attention. All of a sudden we’re laid flat on our backs and we’re forced to look up.”
Here’s what I consider to be a more insightful take on the “corner” we find our-self backed into:
It isn’t God (who is good all of the time) that backs us into a corner—it’s us. This vengeful God theory is what keeps our ego minds from trusting the Love of God, the Power of God to work in our life. It is also the thing that keeps us in victim hood, and from claiming responsibility in our life—if it is some outer force (God) who is sending a crisis to us—well what can we do about it?
If we simply use the brain God endowed us with, we see that something can not be other than it’s Nature. A acorn will be a oak tree. A apple seed a apple tree. One can not be the other. Either God is Love, as Jesus taught, or God is not. It isn’t both. This is where the famous saying came about “God created us in his image and we have returned the favor”. Because we bounce back and forth between ego love, ego vengeance and rarely the agape Love of Jesus, we think God does the same thing.
A Loving Father/Mother/God is just that: Loving, all of the time. A Loving God would prefer for us to learn through Joy. Our ego minds don’t seem to be programmed by our life here in Earth School to learn through Joy. But that doesn’t mean this isn’t God’s will for us. Alignment with the Love of God allows us to question our choices in a different way than through the “God’s painted me into a corner” allows us to question.
The next time you feel like a victim—of circumstance or of a vengeful God—ask for a correction in your perception. Ask to be shown how you have unknowingly or unconsciously created this circumstance for yourself. Step back and let a loving God revel to you the way out of one thing after another happening in your life of which you seem to have no control.
